Refined and sleekly structured, with multilayered raspberry and cherry flavors that are laced with black tea and spice and glide on a long finish. Drink now through 2027.
Wine Enthusiast: 92 PointsThis is a four-vineyard blend, scented and framed with toasty oak. The midpalate fruit blends blackberry, blueberry and plum, with a dash of chocolate. The tannins have an appealing ruggedness, and add a green tea note to the finish. The wine was aged 16 months in 30% new French oak.
Tasting Panel: 92 PointsSelecting the best lots of Pinot Noir from each of Argyle’s vineyards— mostly from the volcanic red soils of the Dundee Hills and Eola-Amity Hills—wine- maker Nate Klostermann has imparted plenty of character to this spicy, expressive red. Prickly pepper surges forward with cherry, plum, and pomegranate while hibiscus and cactus flower bloom.
Predominately based in the volcanic red soils of the Dundee Hills and Eola-Amity Hills, this Reserve Pinot Noir showcases spicy elegance and silky texture. The 2018 vintage introduces our first Reserve with a touch of marine sedimentary soils from the Giving Tree Vineyard, located in the foothills of the Coast Range, providing just a touch of muscle. Raspberry, dark plum, and cardamom, and an underlying minerality weave with delicate, polished tannin and dynamic energy. Cold soaking and fermenting entirely in small, 1.5-ton fermenters enhances silkiness, while 20% whole cluster inclusion contributes freshness, layered complexity, and vibrant length.
Pinot Noir is a red wine grape variety that is widely considered one of the most challenging and finicky to grow. It is known for producing elegant, aromatic wines with flavors and aromas that can include red berries, cherry, floral notes, and earthy undertones. Pinot Noir is often associated with regions like Burgundy in France, where it reaches its pinnacle, producing some of the world's most sought-after and expensive wines.
