Robert Parker: 92 Points

The 2012 Barolo Cerequio offers praiseworthy elegance that is made more evident thanks to the wine's solid structure. Polished aromas of wild berry, anise seed, dried ginger, tar and licorice combine to give the wine a lasting sense of aromatic lift and buoyancy. The mouthfeel follows with a tight and streamlined approach. Boroli has achieved beautiful results in the Cerequio cru, despite a vintage that saw sporadic hail storms and difficult summer heat spikes.

Wine Enthusiast: 92 Points

This exciting Barolo, from various vineyards in Castiglione Falletto, bursts from the glass with pristine aromas of ripe cherries, fresh wildflowers and sweet spices. The generous palate showcases mixed red berries with hints of rosewood and nutmeg finishing with supple tannins that make it enjoyable in its youth.

Clear bright ruby color with very light garnet red reflections; intense and persistent aroma of red fruit with notes of plum and cherry. A pleasant aroma of wood is noticeable after the fruity aroma, anticipating the full taste of a great wine suitable for long lasting life. A succulent, rich, full-bodied and pleasant taste emerges after the woody one, with the presence of slightly ripe red fruit.

Nebbiolo

Nebbiolo is a red wine grape primarily cultivated in the Piedmont region of northwest Italy. This grape is renowned for producing some of Italy's most prestigious wines, including Barolo and Barbaresco. Nebbiolo wines are characterized by high acidity, firm tannins, and complex flavors that often include red fruit notes like cherry and raspberry, along with floral and tar-like aromas. These wines are known for their aging potential, developing greater complexity, softer tannins, and a brick-orange hue as they mature. Nebbiolo's expression can vary across different vineyard sites, showcasing the influence of terroir on its character. While it requires patience due to its tannic structure, Nebbiolo rewards wine enthusiasts with a remarkable combination of elegance and power, making it a celebrated varietal in the world of fine Italian wines.
