Always a smoking wine (as well as a hard to beat value), the 2020 Château Cap De Faugères boasts a deep purple hue as well as lots of cassis and blueberry fruits interwoven with notes of violets, white flowers, and chocolatey oak. Drink this medium to full-bodied, plush, sexy, fruit-loaded rock star of a Castillon over the coming decade.
James Suckling: 92 PointsA medium-bodied red with plum and berry. Soft and refined with nice, ripe and creamy tannins. Very polished.
A blend of 85% Merlot and the balance Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, from the cooler Castillon region to the east of Saint-Emilion, the 2018 Château Cap De Faugères reveals a healthy ruby/purple hue as well as lots of pretty red and blue fruits, notes of candied orange, tobacco, and violets, no hard edges, silky tannins, and both beautiful balance and purity. It's a terrific Castillon to enjoy over the coming decade or so.
Bordeaux red blends, hailing from the Bordeaux region in France, artfully combine grape varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec to create wines celebrated for their balanced profiles, marrying the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon with the fruitiness of Merlot. Known for aging potential, these wines evolve, gaining complexity and softer tannins over time, and their styles range from elegant to full-bodied, influenced by grape proportions and specific terroirs within Bordeaux sub-regions.
