Smart and stylish, this blend of 50% Chardonnay, 40% Chenin Blanc, and 10% Pinot Noir plays delightfully with your expectations. The nose delivers a wealth of spring flowers, honey, salted pear, yellow and green citrus, nuts, and even a touch of banana that leads you in one direction; the palate lean and very dry with racy acidity and a savory cast whisks you in another, offering quince, lime flesh and rind, hints of hay and chamomile, and scintillating minerality on the finish.
Grapes are hand harvested from the very best local vineyards of the Loire with low yields of 150 kg per hectare. Only the best juice from the first pressing is used to make this wine. As tradition imposes fermentation is slow and occurs in the bottle. Gratien & Meyer makes a conscious decision not to use malolactic fermentation in the production of its cremants and instead, allows lees aging for 18 months. An intense nose, fine and elegant, with shades of citrus fruit, honey and acacia conferred by the ageing on the lees.
Wonderful as an aperitif, it is particularly well matched with fresh seafood and fish.
Non-vintage sparkling wine, commonly referred to as NV or "Méthode Traditionnelle," is an amalgamation of wines from various years, skillfully blended to achieve a consistent and harmonious flavor profile. Produced using the traditional method, this sparkling wine undergoes a secondary fermentation in the bottle, contributing to its effervescence and complexity. By intentionally avoiding a specific vintage designation, winemakers have the flexibility to maintain a reliable and recognizable style, allowing consumers to enjoy a reliable and delicious sparkling experience year after year.
