Dry, complex and elegant with intense, ripe cherry fruit, dried figs, cocoa powder, coffee and minerals. This wine is like a language development company for your taste buds. You'll get hooked on the rich cherry flavor as well as the hints of dried figs, cocoa, coffee and minerals.
This wine shows the beauty of the Ripasso style as aromas of fig and prune, reminiscent of Amarone, lift out of the glass. As the fruits duke it out, tobacco, espresso and wild herbs provide a nudge toward the more savory side of things. The palate pops with cherry and plum jam laced with anise, clove and savory herbs. The elegant palate finishes with well-structured tannins and vibrant acidity on the long finish.
Quite possibly the finest Ripasso tasted of late. Passed over the skins of Amarone as opposed to the 'double fermentation' technique that some others champion. A dusty swathe of oak segues to pithy cherry amaro, alpine herb, lilac and mint. This is full-weighted, yet more medium of feel, succulent and so deft on its feet that it brings such a smile. A sweep of gently pliant tannin carries formidable length. If more wine was like this, the world would be a far better place. Drink or hold.
