Robert Parker
The 2016 Clinet is composed of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. It was aged using the Oxoline system, in 70% new and 30% one-year-old barrels for 16 months. It has a deep garnet-purple color with cedar and smoked meats on the nose giving way to black and red plums and earthy notions with wafts of cassis and pencil shavings. The palate is medium to full-bodied, elegant, polished and vivacious with loads of red and black fruit layers and an earthy finish. Around 4,416 cases produced.

Warm and fleshy in feel, showing dark plum, boysenberry and blackberry sauce flavors infused with mulling spice and black tea notes. Singed alder and tobacco hints flicker on the finish, adding texture. This delivers an encore of fruit detail on the finish too, with some sneaky length. Seductive. Best from 2021 through 2034.

Ripe and spicy, this is a dense wine with solid tannins. Black plum and blackberry flavors give the wine its fruitiness, while the spicy tannins promise aging. This powerful wine has a good future.

Description

Medium intensity of dark ruby-red color. The aromas are quite dusty & chalky with earthy & reduced dark fruits. The palate is smooth-textured & displays prune & plum fruit. The tannins are soft & smooth with a slight cedary edge. The fruit is very mellow, but there is some chalky tannic grip on the mid palate. The alcohol adds some roundness to the finish which is long & mellow with ripe prune & a classical earthy Pomerol notes. Drinking beautifully now

Bordeaux Red Blend

Bordeaux red blends, hailing from the Bordeaux region in France, artfully combine grape varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec to create wines celebrated for their balanced profiles, marrying the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon with the fruitiness of Merlot.
