ProducerDomaine de la Ferrandière
Domaine de la Ferrandière Viognier is a generous, sun-soaked southern French white from a 100-hectare estate nestled between the Corbières and Minervois — just 25 miles from the Mediterranean. The Gau family established the property in 1922 and farmed it for over a century before passing the torch to acclaimed producer Jean-Claude Mas of Domaines Paul Mas in 2013. The vines benefit from a Mediterranean climate softened by dramatic day-to-night temperature swings, producing aromatic Viognier of real character. The nose explodes with ripe stone fruit — yellow peach, apricot, and white nectarine — joined by honeysuckle, jasmine, and a soft hint of citrus. On the palate, the wine is fleshy and rounded with juicy fruit, a balanced touch of acidity, and a clean, lightly floral finish. Sustainably farmed and Terra Vitis certified, this is genuinely well-built Viognier that punches well above its modest price. Pair it with grilled chicken, Thai cuisine, soft cheeses, peach-glazed pork, or simply chill it down for a warm afternoon on the porch.
