A delicious, juicy and well-rounded Chianti with aromas of strawberries, red currants and some forest berries. Medium-bodied with soft tannins. Mellow and fruit-driven with a satisfying finish.

Description

Organoleptic Notes: Chianti Castiglioni 2020 shows a beautiful vibrant ruby red color to the eye. On olfactory analysis it is pleasantly fruity, with notes of ripe small berries, including red currant, raspberry, sour cherry and wild strawberry. The burst of fruit is followed by floral scents and spicy hints of clove. In the mouth it is fresh and soft with a pleasant tannic texture, well present but never excessive. The finish, long and clean, is also dominated by its fruit character.

Wine pairing: Savory dishes such as pappardelle with meat sauce, as well as roast chicken, beef strips with vegetables, and medium-aged cheeses.

Sangiovese

Sangiovese is a red wine grape predominantly associated with Italy, particularly in the Tuscany region. Known for its high acidity and versatile nature, Sangiovese produces wines with bright red fruit flavors, including cherry and strawberry, along with floral and herbal notes. Famous Tuscan wines such as Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino, and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano are primarily made from Sangiovese. The grape's character can vary depending on the winemaking style and the specific terroir, ranging from lighter, more approachable styles to complex, age-worthy wines with robust tannins and a distinct sense of place. Sangiovese wines are often praised for their food-friendly acidity and ability to express the unique characteristics of the regions where they are grown.
