Product Description

The Altesino 2018 Brunello di Montalcino is ripe and round with lots of pretty textural richness and juicy fruit flavors. These qualities tie in nicely with the character of the vintage that saw long and hot summer days. Dark fruit, plum and blackcurrant pave the way for savory spice, tobacco and limestone. The effect is soothing and rich, and the wine remains perfumed and silky to the end. The tannins are well managed in this hot-vintage wine. Fruit is sourced over 25 hectares of vines with tufo soils and alberese rock. Best after 2024

This has fantastic intensity with concentrated hazelnut, chocolate and dark berry aromas alongside dried flower and dried orange undertones. Firm and medium- to full-bodied, with powerful yet integrated tannins. Excellent structural integrity.

The 2018 Brunello Di Montalcino is a medium ruby hue, with aromas of licorice, dried red flowers, red cherry, and dusty earth. Medium-bodied, with fine tannins, it is approachable with its more delicate nature and fresh acidity. It has no harsh edges and offers notes of ripe raspberry, blood orange, and tea leaf.

Rich and fruity, evoking plum, cherry, iron, tobacco and eucalyptus flavors. This has a bit more flesh to offset the dusty tannins, with a lingering, fresh finish

Montalcino is a picturesque hilltop town in southern Tuscany, world-famous for producing the mighty Brunello di Montalcino. Here, Sangiovese—called Sangiovese Grosso or “Brunello”—reaches dazzling heights, yielding wines bursting with dark cherry, blackberry, leather, and earthy spice, wrapped in powerful tannins and vibrant acidity. Brunello must age at least five years (six for Riserva), making it one of Italy’s most age-worthy and prestigious reds. There’s also Rosso di Montalcino, its younger sibling, offering similar flavors in a lighter, more approachable style. Whether Brunello or Rosso, wines from Montalcino capture the sun-soaked hills, warm breezes, and centuries of Tuscan winemaking passion—perfect with rich pasta, roasted meats, or simply savoring life’s best moments.
Sangiovese is a red wine grape predominantly associated with Italy, particularly in the Tuscany region. Known for its high acidity and versatile nature, Sangiovese produces wines with bright red fruit flavors, including cherry and strawberry, along with floral and herbal notes. Famous Tuscan wines such as Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino, and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano are primarily made from Sangiovese. The grape's character can vary depending on the winemaking style and the specific terroir, ranging from lighter, more approachable styles to complex, age-worthy wines with robust tannins and a distinct sense of place. Sangiovese wines are often praised for their food-friendly acidity and ability to express the unique characteristics of the regions where they are grown.
