Product Description

Barolo Undicicomuni is arguably Arnaldo Rivera’s most important wine. Spiced cedar, leather and scorched earth on the nose. The palate is wild and savory with notes of crushed raspberry, figs, cinnamon, star anise alongside velvety dusty tannins and fresh acidity. It’s stylish meaty and delicious and super uber Nebbiolo cool. Blending fruit from across the Langhe’s eleven Barolo villages, it epitomizes the quintessential values of traditional, historic Barolo. While the ArnaldoRivera single vineyard Barolos are stunning, it is the Barolo Undicicomuni that demands the winemaker’s greatest attention. He is required to blend different fruit and terroir expressions from diverse villages, just as an artist balances colors to complete his work of art. This means that the Barolo Undicicomuni is naturally Arnaldo Rivera’s most complex Barolo. A shorter ageing in wood, instead of the 32 months of each cru, allows the wine to be more accessible and suitable for early drinking. A consistently great example of Barolo.

This features mellow aromas of macerated cherry, rose, leather, iron and tobacco. Ripe midpalate, gracefully ceding to firm tannins on the finish. Elegant and focused. Best from 2023 through 2036.

This has a fresh-leathery edge with an array of dried cherries, as well as rich, woody spices. The palate is plush, smoothly textured and super fleshy with a nicely layered and fluid finish. Drink or hold.

Barolo is known as the “King of Wines,” hailing from the rolling hills of Piedmont in northern Italy, and crafted entirely from the noble Nebbiolo grape. It’s famous for powerful tannins, high acidity, and complex aromas of roses, tar, cherries, truffles, and earthy spice—a wine that can age gracefully for decades. The vineyards bask in fog (“nebbia”), which helps the Nebbiolo grapes ripen slowly and develop intense flavors. Traditionally, Barolo demanded years of cellaring to tame its fierce structure, but modern styles are becoming more approachable earlier. Whether classic or contemporary, Barolo remains a wine lover’s treasure—a bold, elegant expression of Italian winemaking heritage that practically insists on being paired with rich dishes like braised meats, truffles, and hearty pasta.
Nebbiolo is a red wine grape primarily cultivated in the Piedmont region of northwest Italy. This grape is renowned for producing some of Italy's most prestigious wines, including Barolo and Barbaresco. Nebbiolo wines are characterized by high acidity, firm tannins, and complex flavors that often include red fruit notes like cherry and raspberry, along with floral and tar-like aromas. These wines are known for their aging potential, developing greater complexity, softer tannins, and a brick-orange hue as they mature. Nebbiolo's expression can vary across different vineyard sites, showcasing the influence of terroir on its character. While it requires patience due to its tannic structure, Nebbiolo rewards wine enthusiasts with a remarkable combination of elegance and power, making it a celebrated varietal in the world of fine Italian wines.
