Castello di Volpaia Chianti Classico is a benchmark Tuscan red from one of the highest-altitude estates in the appellation โ a 12th-century hilltop village turned working winery in the heart of Chianti Classico. The blend of approximately 90% Sangiovese with a touch of Merlot is grown organically at 600 meters of elevation on schist and limestone soils that yield wines of remarkable freshness. The 2016 vintage earned 90+ points from Wine Advocate for its bright, focused fruit and old-world poise. The nose offers fresh red cherry, dried herbs, cedar, and a whisper of spice box typical of high-elevation Sangiovese. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied with refreshing acidity, smooth tannins, and an elegant earthy finish that goes long. This is Chianti as it's meant to taste: pure, food-driven, and quietly serious. Pair with bistecca alla Fiorentina, ribollita, mushroom risotto, or aged Pecorino for a textbook Tuscan match.
