Du Toitskloof African Pinotage is a vibrant, fruit-forward South African red built on Pinotage โ South Africa's signature grape variety, created in 1925 by crossing Pinot Noir with Cinsault to create a uniquely African expression. Du Toitskloof has been crafting accessible, well-made wines from the Breedekloof Valley since 1962 and is Fairtrade-certified, building its reputation on quality at fair prices. Pinotage is famous for its deep color, juicy fruit character, and signature smoky-savory edge that sets it apart from any other red grape in the world. The nose opens with ripe black cherry, juicy plum, blackberry, sweet baking spice, and a subtle smoky, almost barbecue-like note that's classic Pinotage. On the palate, the wine is medium-to-full bodied with juicy dark fruit, soft tannins, balanced acidity, and a clean, savory finish that's surprisingly food-friendly. A genuinely original expression of South Africa's most distinctive variety. Pair it with braai (BBQ) meats, grilled lamb, slow-cooked stews, or mushroom-based pastas for a textbook South African pairing.
