ProducerGodet
Godet Blanc Pineau des Charentes is a delicately sweet French aperitif fortified wine from the Cognac region โ a unique style created by blending unfermented grape must with young Cognac and aging the result in oak barrels. Maison Godet is a respected Cognac house with a strong reputation for crafting both Cognac and Pineau des Charentes in the traditional Charentes style. Pineau des Charentes was reportedly discovered by accident in the 16th century when a winemaker mistakenly added grape must to a barrel of Cognac โ and one of France's most charming aperitifs was born. The pour reveals a brilliantly clear pale gold hue. The nose opens with sweet honey, ripe pear, fresh white grape, almond, and a subtle wisp of vanilla and Cognac warmth. On the palate, the wine is sweet but beautifully balanced with bright acidity, juicy fruit, gentle alcohol warmth, and a clean, refreshing finish. Best served well-chilled as an aperitif before a meal, or paired with foie gras, soft cheeses, fresh fruit, or melon and prosciutto.
