Product Description

With a ruby red color with light garnet reflection, La Llecciaia’s Brunello Di Montalcino offers a complex burst of cocoa, tobacco and blueberry leading to the typical Sangiovese profile dominated by violet and cherries and framed by smooth spices. This full bodied and concentrated wine has a lively acidity that is balanced by a nice softness while the persistent mouth coating tannins provide a long and clean aftertaste.

This wine deserves a “Solo” tasting, displaying all its qualities as a meditation wine at a temperature of 18-20°C.cNevertheless it is the perfect pairing partner of well structured and complex red meat and game dishes. Easy and always good pairings with seasoned and structured cheeses.

The nose is a retired sailor's old leather trunk, smelling of the tobacco, vanilla, dried fruit and dark chocolate once contained within, with a hint of saline. Like the trunk's owner, the palate is mature but not boring, with continuing notes of vanilla and fruit, but umami undertones, ominous tannins and searing acid provide contrast.

Montalcino is a picturesque hilltop town in southern Tuscany, world-famous for producing the mighty Brunello di Montalcino. Here, Sangiovese—called Sangiovese Grosso or “Brunello”—reaches dazzling heights, yielding wines bursting with dark cherry, blackberry, leather, and earthy spice, wrapped in powerful tannins and vibrant acidity. Brunello must age at least five years (six for Riserva), making it one of Italy’s most age-worthy and prestigious reds. There’s also Rosso di Montalcino, its younger sibling, offering similar flavors in a lighter, more approachable style. Whether Brunello or Rosso, wines from Montalcino capture the sun-soaked hills, warm breezes, and centuries of Tuscan winemaking passion—perfect with rich pasta, roasted meats, or simply savoring life’s best moments.
Sangiovese is a red wine grape predominantly associated with Italy, particularly in the Tuscany region. Known for its high acidity and versatile nature, Sangiovese produces wines with bright red fruit flavors, including cherry and strawberry, along with floral and herbal notes. Famous Tuscan wines such as Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino, and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano are primarily made from Sangiovese. The grape's character can vary depending on the winemaking style and the specific terroir, ranging from lighter, more approachable styles to complex, age-worthy wines with robust tannins and a distinct sense of place. Sangiovese wines are often praised for their food-friendly acidity and ability to express the unique characteristics of the regions where they are grown.
