Hints of spring flowers with a touch of toast and honey. This is followed by strong fruit and balancing citrus flavours.
With a history dating back to 1760 Champagne Lanson is the third oldest house in Champagne and was awarded the Royal Warrant in 1860 by Queen Victoria. Champagne is an historic province in the northeast of France, best known for the production of the sparkling white wine that bears the region’s name. Lanson are of the few producers to prevent malolactic fermentation, keeping their wines crisp and refreshing. The wine then has extended ageing in the historical wine cellars to mature and soften.
Professional Review
Wine Enthusiast: 92 PointsLanson’s famed nonvintage cuvée is back on form, giving a ripe style dominated by Pinot Noir. It has weight and already a fine balance between the fruits and touches of toast from four years on the lees. This bottling of this Champagne is very ready to drink.
Wine Spectator: 91 PointsRacy acidity is tightly meshed to flavors of ripe red and black currant, preserved lemon, chopped almond and honeycomb in this sleek Champagne, with a fine, chalky bead. Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier.
Wine & Spirits: 90 PointsSoft, chalky tannins structure this wine, sur-rounded by notes of pink grapefruit and russet apple. That balance of sweet fruit and tannins will meld with pate de foie.
