Poderi Luigi Einaudi Barolo is a classical, age-worthy Piedmontese red from one of Italy's most historically significant family wine estates. Founded in 1897 by Luigi Einaudi โ the economist who served as Italy's first democratically elected president โ the estate today farms 358 acres across ten farmsteads in Dogliani and Barolo, including parcels in two acclaimed Barolo crus, Cannubi and Terlo. This estate Barolo blends fruit from across the family's vineyard holdings to deliver a textbook expression of the appellation at a more approachable price than the single-cru bottlings. Made from 100% Nebbiolo and aged in oak following traditional Piedmontese practice. The nose opens with dried rose petal, sour cherry, leather, tar, sweet tobacco, and a subtle truffle thread that develops with air. On the palate, the wine is structured but elegant โ firm tannins, vibrant acidity, dried fruit complexity, and a long, savory finish that announces serious Piemontese pedigree. Pair it with braised beef, ossobuco, mushroom risotto, truffle pasta, aged Parmigiano, or simply give it time to open in a generous Burgundy-style glass.
