ProducerPoderi Luigi Einaudi
Poderi Luigi Einaudi Barolo Terlo 2014 is a serious, age-worthy Piedmontese red from a celebrated cru in the Barolo zone, made by one of Italy's most historically significant wine families. The estate was founded in 1897 by Luigi Einaudi โ who would go on to become Italy's first democratically elected president โ and remains family-run today. Terlo is one of two Barolo crus where Einaudi farms today (along with Cannubi), producing wines of remarkable elegance and aromatic intensity. Made from 100% Nebbiolo, the king of Italian grapes, aged in oak following traditional Piedmontese techniques. The nose offers classic Barolo aromatics: dried rose, sour cherry, leather, tar, dried herbs, and a wisp of truffle. On the palate, the wine is medium-to-full bodied with the variety's signature firm tannic grip, vibrant acidity, dried fruit complexity, and a long, savory finish that reveals serious cellar potential. The 2014 vintage adds a decade of bottle age, allowing the tannins to soften and the aromatics to deepen. Pair it with braised beef, truffle dishes, aged Parmigiano, wild game, or simply give it time to open in the glass.
