Made with organic grapes and coming in at 13.8% ABV, this Cabernet-domina nt blend (79%) with Petite Sirah, Merlot, Syrah, and other grapes is a balanced, fruity red that shines from within. The majority of Bonterra's home of Mendocino County, and some of the vine sources are as old as 50 years. Dusty cocoa tannins and a dollop of licorice are the frills on ripe blueberry notes. Plush plum integrates with graham cracker and a spiced bouquet of lilacs.

Description

This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from various vineyards across California, including the renowned regions of Mendocino County and Paso Robles. The grapes had the perfect balance of sunshine and cool temperatures, resulting in a slow ripening process that gave way to intense, concentrated flavors. Despite limited water supply, the yield was exceptional and produced a phenomenal 2021 vintage. With a splash of Petite Sirah, this Cabernet is not only bold and flavorful, but also boasts a captivating deep garnet color and powerful aromas and flavors of blackcurrant, black cherry, and prune. Hints of leather, tobacco, and graphite add another layer of complexity to this well-structured, medium-bodied wine. Its elegant tannins and refreshing acidity lead to a lingering finish that will leave you wanting more.

Cabernet Sauvignon

A noble variety bestowed with both power and concentration, Cabernet Sauvignon enjoys success all over the globe, its best examples showing potential to age beautifully for decades. Cabernet Sauvignon flourishes in Bordeaux's Medoc where it is often blended with Merlot and smaller amounts of some combination of Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot. In the Napa Valley, ‘Cab’ is responsible for some of the world’s most prestigious, age-worthy and sought-after “cult” wines. Somm Secret—DNA profiling in 1997 revealed that Cabernet Sauvignon was born from a spontaneous crossing of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc in 17th century southwest France.
