Scotch Whisky

Scotch whisky is a distilled spirit made in Scotland, crafted primarily from malted barley and aged for a minimum of three years in oak barrels. It comes in several styles, including Single Malt (from one distillery using only malted barley), Blended Malt, Single Grain, and Blended Scotch. The five main whisky-producing regions—Highlands, Lowlands, Islay, Speyside, and Campbeltown—each lend distinct characteristics, from smoky and peaty to light and floral. Islay, for example, is known for bold, smoky whiskies, while Speyside is famous for smooth, fruity expressions. Scotch must follow strict regulations, including distillation and aging within Scotland, and cannot contain any additives besides water and caramel coloring. It’s a spirit celebrated for its complexity, heritage, and craftsmanship.
