Shirakawago Sasanigori Junmai Ginjo is a refined, semi-cloudy Japanese sake from the historic Shirakawago region โ a UNESCO World Heritage area in Gifu Prefecture famous for its traditional gassho-zukuri thatched-roof farmhouses. Sasanigori means "lightly cloudy" โ a gentle category between fully clear ginjo and fully cloudy nigori โ producing sake with subtle natural texture from suspended rice solids. Junmai Ginjo indicates pure rice (no added distilled alcohol) with the rice polished to at least 60%. The pour reveals a beautifully gentle, slightly hazy pale-gold hue. The nose opens with delicate aromatic notes of fresh white melon, ripe pear, soft floral lift, steamed rice, and a subtle hint of yogurt-like creaminess. On the palate, expect a silky, beautifully balanced pour with natural sweetness from rice, gentle creamy texture, refined acidity, and a long, clean finish that lingers gracefully. Best served chilled in a small wine glass to fully appreciate the delicate aromatics. Pair it with sushi, sashimi, light tempura, scallop crudo, or any refined Japanese dish.
