Villa Gemma Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo is a vivid, structured Italian rosé from Masciarelli — one of Abruzzo's most respected family wineries, founded in 1981 and now run by the next generation continuing the founder's legacy. Cerasuolo is unique in the rosé world — it's the deeply colored, structured "cherry-red" rosato of Abruzzo (the name literally means cherry-colored), made from 100% Montepulciano grapes through brief skin contact that produces wines unlike anything from Provence. The pour shows a stunning deep cherry-pink hue that's pure Abruzzese identity. The nose opens with ripe red cherry, juicy strawberry, dried herbs, and a subtle hint of warm spice. On the palate, expect a medium body that's far more structured than typical rosé — juicy cherry fruit, refreshing acidity, gentle tannic grip, and a long, savory finish that carries surprising depth. A genuinely versatile, food-driven rosé that bridges the gap between white and red wine territory. Pair it with grilled meats, lamb, salumi, charcuterie boards, pizza, paella, or hearty seafood for a uniquely Italian rosato experience.
