Leads with deep aromas of cherry, earth, licorice and tar, with cherry and berry fruit prevailing on the palate. Lithe and firmly structured, with nuances of spices and rose hip. Best from 2024 through 2038.

The Paolo Scavino 2018 Barolo is a pretty wine with sweet primary intensity that appears as tart cherry and dried raspberry. With Enrico Scavino's signature on the front label, this is a classic package with silky tannins and a long, polished mouthfeel. Fruit comes from multiple vineyard sites across the appellation. Best After 2024

Pretty sweetness and ripeness to this with cherries, dried strawberries and chocolate. It’s full-bodied with round, firm tannins. Very long and intense. A little tight now. Complex and subtle at this stage. Give it two or three years to come around. Try after 2022.

Description

This Barolo has a special value for our family and represents the history and tradition of blending different cru of Barolo. Our Barolo comes from the best plots of seven cru. The diversity of soils, exposure and altitude characterizes each of these small but very important terroir. Unifying these diversities, the Barolo offers harmony and complexity with an overall character of the zone. Separate vinfication. Destemming and light crushing. The maceration and the alcoholic fermentation are in stainless steel with temperature controlled and indigenous yeasts. Malolactic fermentation in oak barrels. The tartaric stabilization occurs naturally during the winter with the low temperatures. Every plots of the crus is kept separate and aged in neutral French oak barrels for 10 months and further 12months in large casks. Final blend as a result of a further selection in the cellar of the most performing plots of the vintage. Approximately one year of stainless steel and 10 months of bottle aging before release.

Nebbiolo

Nebbiolo is a red wine grape primarily cultivated in the Piedmont region of northwest Italy. This grape is renowned for producing some of Italy's most prestigious wines, including Barolo and Barbaresco. Nebbiolo wines are characterized by high acidity, firm tannins, and complex flavors that often include red fruit notes like cherry and raspberry, along with floral and tar-like aromas. These wines are known for their aging potential, developing greater complexity, softer tannins, and a brick-orange hue as they mature. Nebbiolo's expression can vary across different vineyard sites, showcasing the influence of terroir on its character. While it requires patience due to its tannic structure, Nebbiolo rewards wine enthusiasts with a remarkable combination of elegance and power, making it a celebrated varietal in the world of fine Italian wines.
