This is a selection from botas of Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez raised separately and then blended to age for three years in solera. The result puts the sweetness of the PX in front, with flavors of plum jam and tobacco. The salinity of the Oloroso brings freshness and fine minerality that play softly in the background.

This traditional wine from Lustau is made in the Cream style. It's dark and pretty, with PX-ish prune and caramel aromas. It's not as thick as Pedro Ximénez, and thus isn't syrupy. But it's certainly rich and full of cookie, molasses, maple and brown sugar flavors. For anyone who likes a sweet Sherry that's balanced, this is a good place to go.

Description

Dark mahogany in colour with green-amber edge. It offers vibrant notes of maple syrup, brown sugar, shoe polish, raisin and chocolate beer nuts, all very well integrated. On the palate it is smooth and rich at the beginning, full of prune and burned oranges peel flavours. Provocative spicy notes appear just before its nuttiness and terrific acidity cuts through the sweetness. With a truly unforgettable finish.

Each wine (Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez) is matured, separately in its own solera for 12 years. Once blended together, the resulting sherry is returned to a 45-cask solera for a further 3 years ageing. In centuries gone by, casks with sherry were lashed to ships sailing for the Indies and were found to develop an extraordinary smoothness and complexity. Lustau has revived this style of sherry in the East India wine.

Sherry, Port, & Dessert

Sherry and Port, distinguished dessert wines hailing from Spain and Portugal, respectively, offer a rich tapestry of flavors. Sherry, with styles ranging from dry Fino to sweet Cream, undergoes unique aging, while Port, a fortified wine from Portugal, boasts sweetness across styles like Ruby and Tawny. Both stand as exquisite choices to complement desserts, showcasing the craftsmanship and heritage of their winemaking traditions. Cheers to the delightful world of Sherry and Port! 🍷🌍
