A dense blackberry aroma is lifted by loam, cocoa and mint on the nose of this bottling. There are firm tannins framing the sip, which is cohesive and well integrated, with flavors of toasted wood, cocoa spice and rich dark berry

Description

Iron + Sand Cabernet Sauvignon Red Wine is sustainably sourced from two renowned Paso Robles vineyards. Dense purple in color, this dry red wine opens with aromas of dark plums, black cherries, freshly picked blackberries and raspberries intertwined with hints of graphite and baking spices. On the entry, ripe, dark fruit flavors hit the palate before rounding out to earthy, rich chocolate covered cherries complemented by lively acidity and fine tannins. The finish is long, supple and mouthwatering. The Iron + Sand Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 vintage earned 90 Points from James Suckling, 90 Points from Vinous, and 92 Points Cellar Selection from Wine Enthusiast. This red wine Cabernet Sauvignon is the perfect match for local Santa Maria style BBQ or tri tip with grilled vegetables. This California wine is made using fruit from the San Miguel District, Paso Robles and El Pomar District AVA. During winemaking, the fermenters were situated on top of storage tanks, allowing for minimal pump usage while sending pomace to the press. The majority of the red wine was aged in neutral French and American oak barrels. Never bound by preconceived notions, this Cabernet Sauvignon wine could only ever be made in Paso Robles, California. This bottled wine has 14% alcohol by volume. Born from the grit of Paso Robles, Iron + Sand is a nostalgic nod to the natural draw of historic hot springs, Iron Spring and Sand Spring, that propelled Paso Robles into a bustling destination know as California's oldest watering place.

Cabernet Sauvignon

A noble variety bestowed with both power and concentration, Cabernet Sauvignon enjoys success all over the globe, its best examples showing potential to age beautifully for decades. Cabernet Sauvignon flourishes in Bordeaux's Medoc where it is often blended with Merlot and smaller amounts of some combination of Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot. In the Napa Valley, ‘Cab’ is responsible for some of the world’s most prestigious, age-worthy and sought-after “cult” wines. Somm Secret—DNA profiling in 1997 revealed that Cabernet Sauvignon was born from a spontaneous crossing of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc in 17th century southwest France.
