As advertised, this is one velvety smooth Merlot. There may not be a lot of tannic structure and the acidity is restrained, but lovers of satiny textures and walls of blackberry fruit will rejoice. The blackberry tsunami is joined by aromas and flavors of sweet Cavendish pipe tobacco, balsa wood and an espresso doppio with a lemon peel.

Description

Sinfully delicious, The Velvet Devil Merlot Red Wine is a fresh, vivid, and appealing merlot wine. Opening with aromas of black fruit, cedar, tobacco, and cassis, this full bodied red wine blend has grown in popularity due to its unique characteristics, specific to Washington State wines. This delicious red grape wine's floral overtones and polished core of currant combine beautifully with its full body and pure velvet finish. This alcoholic beverage's fresh, vivid flavor and rich color result from an artful blend of 89% merlot, 10% cabernet sauvignon, and 1% malbec grapes. Pair this Washington wine with pork, steak, and bacon cheeseburgers, or enjoy a glass of wine on its own. For optimal flavor of this red blend, store this wine at room temperature, then chill it in the refrigerator for 30 minutes before serving at around 60 degrees. Please enjoy our wines responsibly. © 2022 Charles Smith Wines, Prosser, WA

Merlot

Merlot is another red wine grape variety that is widely cultivated and used in winemaking around the world. It is known for producing wines that are generally softer, rounder, and more approachable than some of the more tannic red wines, such as Cabernet Sauvignon. Merlot is often used in blends, and it is a key component in Bordeaux wines, particularly on the right bank of the Gironde River.
