Delivers a briary backbone paired with just enough polish to retain its old-school authenticity. Offers notes of wild berry, licorice and toasty sage that build tension toward zesty tannins. This shows the best of Dry Creek Zin.

Coming from the Dry Creek Valley in Sonoma, the 2019 Zinfandel Cortina is a rocking Zinfandel that plays in the more elegant, medium-bodied end of the spectrum, yet it still brings loads of fruit, texture, and classic Zinfandel charm. Black raspberries, plums, Asian spices, and candied orange all emerge from the glass, and it's going to continue drinking brilliantly for another 7-8 years.

Description

Experience a burst of expressive aromas from ripe, dark fruits, followed by a delightful mix of red fruit and a velvety, indulgent mid-palate. A juicy, lively entrance with hints of mint, sarsaparilla, and fresh plum is seamlessly woven together with smooth tannins and bright acidity for a long-lasting, intricate finish. This wine is the perfect accompaniment to grilled steak, sausage and peppers with creamy polenta, or pasta dishes with tomato-based sauces like baked rigatoni or pappardelle Bolognese. For a happy hour or impromptu gathering, pair this delightful wine with semi-hard cheeses such as locally made dry jack from Vella Cheese Company, or aged cheddar and gouda.

Zinfandel

Zinfandel is a red wine grape variety that has become synonymous with California, particularly in regions like Sonoma and Napa Valley. Known for its versatility, Zinfandel produces wines with bold and jammy fruit flavors, often featuring notes of blackberry, raspberry, and sometimes peppery or spicy elements. Zinfandel wines can range from medium to full-bodied, and they may exhibit moderate to high levels of alcohol. While Zinfandel has historical roots in Croatia, it gained prominence in California, where it became a signature grape. Zinfandel is associated with both red and rosé wines, and its diverse styles make it suitable for various occasions. Whether enjoyed in a fruit-forward and approachable style or crafted into more complex and age-worthy iterations, Zinfandel remains a popular and distinctive choice among wine enthusiasts.
